What is Lunabia?
Lunabia accompanies the cycle, the pregnancy, and the first two years of a child in one app. Cycle tracking with period, fertile days, and ovulation that learns from your own cycles instead of an average. Forty weeks of pregnancy with a text for every week and a model of how big the child is right now. Twenty-five months from birth to the second birthday with milestones, growth spurts, feeding, sleep, and the moments in between. Built for four in the morning, when a child is on your arm and only one hand is free.
The problem we set out to solve.
Families juggle three apps: one for the cycle, one for the pregnancy, one for the baby. Each one wants the same data entered again, and most of them upload photos of children to servers nobody has vetted. We wanted one app that works without a network, keeps everything on the device first, and still lets grandparents abroad see selected moments.
How we built it.
A React Native app built with Expo for iOS and Android. All data lives on the device first; the Cloudflare backend (Worker, D1, R2) is the second copy, not the first. Photos and videos share one Skia canvas editor with filters, stickers, text, and censoring, where video frames pass through as single images so every tool works on both media types. Milestone timelines are generated automatically, development phases are tied to the real age, and cycle prediction says when a cycle is irregular instead of inventing a number. The design system uses tokens throughout, with a dark mode and glass surfaces only for things that float above content.
Under the hood.
What we paid attention to.
One App Instead of Three
Cycle, pregnancy, and child belong together. Whoever keeps them in three apps keeps them three times.
Photos of Children Stay Yours
Everything is stored on the device first. The backend is a backup and a way to share selected moments, never the primary store.
Where we are today.
In development. The website is live at lunabia.com, the app is coming to iPhone and Android.
